Take five

07 May 2008

This year, Manitou North America will be adding five new products to its range of rough terrain forklifts. Among these, two of its largest telescopic handlers – already available in Europe - will be introduced at this year's Conexpo.

The MHT 10160 telescopic handler has 36,000 pounds of maximum capacity with a lift height of 31 feet, 10 inches. Capacity at maximum height is 15,430 pounds. Capacity at its maximum forward reach of 18 feet is 9,260 pounds. The unit is powered by a 175 horsepower Tier III Mercedes turbo diesel and features a two speed hydrostatic transmission for strong maneuverability and ease of operation. The high horsepower Mercedes engine enables the MHT 10160 a 34,850 foot pounds of drawbar pull, giving it strong rough terrain performance.

Soon after the announcement on the MHT 10160, the company pulled another surprise by introducing the massive MHT 10210 telescopic handler as another Conexpo launch. This machine has a lift capacity of 46,000 pounds at 36 inches load center. It has a lift height of 31 feet, 8 inches with a forward reach of 19 feet. Its capacity at maximum height is 28,600 pounds, also at 36 inch load center. The machine has a 175 horsepower Tier III Mercedes intercooled turbo diesel, hydrostatic transmission, 4W drive and 10/10 degree frame leveling among its key features. Both handlers are manufactured in Europe.

The company is also enhancing its MRT 2150P rotating telescopic handler. The unit offers 10,000 pound capacity with more than 67.5 feet of lift height (forward reach of 59 feet, 8 inches), as well as continuous rotation and frame leveling for easy load placement.

Its updates include a Tier III Mercedes intercooled turbo diesel engine and a larger cab. The larger compartment has improved visibility due to its curved windshield and new instrument panel, the company says. Ergonomic joysticks are another addition to the cab, plus all fluids are housed outside.

Finally, the company has released two truck-mounted forklifts from its Manitransit Series. The TMV-55 mast machine has a lift capacity of 5,500 pounds and a maximum lift of 156 inches (13 feet). As a 3WD drive, it features hydrostatic transmission and a Perkins 52 horsepower engine. Along with the TMV-55, its TMT 55-4 way telescopic-mounted boom forklift was brought to the WoC this year. The unit, which has four way steering, has a maximum capacity of 5,500 pounds, a maximum lift height of 135 inches and a maximum forward reach height of 58 inches. Both units are available now.
