With construction sites back open in New York City, workers are scrambling to fulfil safety training requirements.

Under Local Law 196, enacted in 2017, construction workers in New York are required to have received 30-hours of safety training (OSHA 30) by Dec. 1, 2019 and an additional 10-hours (OSHA 10) of safety training by Sept. 1, 2020.

The Committee on Housing and Buildings is looking to push that Sept. 1 deadline to March 1, 2021 to give workers more time to complete training courses.

But why wait? Easybook Training has more than 11,000 health and safety courses available to book, including online options for OSHA-10 construction and general industry classes as well as general industry and construction OSHA-30 options.

Online training is flexible and interactive, and it allows those taking training classes to do so from the comfort of their own home or office. Participants can complete the program over a number of days, and within a time frame that fits their schedule.

While affording workers an extended, 6-month window to complete necessary training is a good gesture, in today’s digital world, there’s no reason the original deadline of Sept. 1 could not have been met. Stop waiting, start booking over the phone or online with Easybook Training today.
