Skyjack debuted its new electric rough terrain scissor lift in Europe this week at APEX 2014. The SJ 6832 RTE was officially handed over to its new owner, Swiss rental company SkyAccess AG, at the show.

Martin Vögtli, managing director at the company, said, “The access market in Europe is shifting towards green machines, so we need electrically powered products with powerful performance suited to a huge variety of job sites,” he said.

“We have more than 275 Skyjack platforms already – they are reliable and easy-to-use machines. We are delighted to have the first SJ 6832 RTE in Europe.”

The new SJ 6832 RTE combines the benefits of its diesel-powered counterpart with a powerful electric engine, allowing users to easily switch between indoor and outdoor use.

The rough terrain scissor lift is the only machine in its class with 45% gradeability and four wheel drive as standard, said the company. The SJ 6832 RTE can handle a maximum capacity of 454 kg and offers a maximum working height of 11.75 m.

Foam-filled non-marking tires, near zero noise levels, zero emissions and the tightest turning radius in its class are also features.

To simplify operator and service training, the SJ 6832 RTE was built on the same chassis as the existing diesel and dual fuel 68RT units. This allows those already familiar with the highly popular traditionally powered 68RT lifts to transition seamlessly to the electric version.

Founded in 1982, SkyAccess AG is one of the largest suppliers of work platforms and telehandlers in Switzerland. The company operates a 600-strong fleet of access equipment, almost half of which are Skyjack units.
