Singing the praises of tracked platforms at UK jubilee event

Rising classical artist, Laura Wright, took to the skies on an access platform to perform for the British Queen during a recent event to celebrate the monarch's Diamond Jubilee in London's Richmond Park.

MBS Tracked Access provided a Teupen Leo 30T tracked platform to get the 21-year-old soprano into perfect position to sing at the open air celebration attended by Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Princess Alexandra. The performance was part of Wild London, a free community event celebrating London's woodlands, parks and gardens organised by Richmond Council and The Royal Parks.

Nearby Capel Manor College which took part in the event suggested MBS Tracked Access and its Teupen lifts to the Council as a solution to the staging challenge. The Essex-based hirer recently exhibited and demonstrated its tracked platforms at the College's tree surgery and countryside skills show, A Celebration of Trees.

Because the machine has a 15.7m outreach, MBS was able to position the chassis in a discreetly away from the main crowd, then telescope Miss Wright safely across to take centre-stage to sing 'Stronger as One', an official Diamond Jubilee anthem.

MBS managing director, Martyn Bass, said: "Laura was a little nervous at first about being in the air but Teupen platforms are so solid she was quickly reassured and able to concentrate on her performance. She was also grateful to borrow one of our jackets as it was quite cold and windy on the platform that day."

Mr Bass said: "We often find ourselves called out to unusual and prestigious occasions with our Leos because they can work in difficult and sensitive spaces where many other platforms would be unsuitable."
