Prototype of Niftylift's new HR28 hybrid 28m working height Height Rider with hybrid engine. To be avaiable early next year.

At an open day held at Towcester racecourse UK manufacturer Niftylift demonstated two new machines: the prototype of a 28m HR28 Hybrid and a new low weight 15m diesel HR15D.

Niftylift said that the HR28 Hybrid, is the world's largest electric boom, it has a 28m working height, a 19m unrestricted outreach and can carry 280kg (three people) in the basket.

With a low weight - just 14500kg, and compact stowed dimensions the machine is designed to be economic to transport and run.

Its Hybrid power plant and catalytic converter greatly reduce fuel consumption and emissions, and an electric only mode allows emissions-free usage for indoor applications. The HR28 Hybrid also comes with SiOPS (Sustained Involuntary Operation Prevention System) as standard, providing an added level of protection for the operator.

The machine is expected to be available by the early next year.

The new HR15D weighs just 4250kg which compares to 6400kg for Niftylift's diesel HR15 4x4 and 6680kg for the HR15N narrow (1.5m) machine which runs on battery, LPG or bi-energy. Niftylift said that the new HR15D is "by far the lowest weight 15m self propelled boom available on the market today and offers customers the opportunity to reduce their transport and fuel costs significantly."

The machine is installed with a particulate filter to further reduce emissions and is currently offered in both 2x4 and 4x4 drive configuration. The HR15D comes with SiOPS as standard and also includes Niftylift's ToughCage. The HR15D will be available for delivery in autumn 2012.

Niftylift also took the advantage to demonstrate other machines in its range and the SiOPS, operator protection system which was introduced on its products in 2009.

Niftylift Managing Director John Keely, said "This was a fantastic day for both us and our customers. It was a great opportunity for them to evaluate the new machines and for us to assess their reactions. The new products received some very positive feedback from some key players in the industry, which is very encouraging."
