New safety guidance in Finland

07 October 2016

The machine services branch of the Association of Finnish Technical Traders (AFTT) has adopted new safety information to use in client guidance in 2017.

It said using the Swedish Rental PSI Personal Safety Introduction in its guidance would help rental customers and machine-end-users in Finnish construction sites, thus strengthening the overall Nordic working culture.

The construction market in Finland is seeing growth, and the AFTT said offering practical help to machine operators in the form of a A4 document would be welcomed. PSI has been available in this way in the Swedish construction sector for several years now.

It said the Swedish Rental Association and the Association of Finnish Technical Traders were heading for an alliance in machine safety guidance for the construction and industrial sectors. It said this change in culture would improve not only occupational health but also ergonomics, and help in recruiting new people into the construction industry.

Mika Eskola (Ramirent Finland), chairman of the Finnish branch group, sad, “The PSI is very dynamic - an A4 guidance to be handed over to operators. It serves both risk evaluation and ergonomics with machinery. PSI will be available in Finland both online and through mobile devices.”
