Massive growth for Australian rental start-up

In its first year of business Australian rental company Uphire has grown from a one man business with just one machine to a company with a 50+ strong fleet and a full time staff.

Uphire's fleet consists of new equipment including vertical lifts, electric and diesel scissor lifts, electric and diesel articulated booms, telescopic booms and telehandlers from leading manufacturers including Genie, JLG, and Merlo. Uphire's owner Nigel McKinley said, "Almost every week that passes we are adding a new machine to our fleet to keep up with demand."

Uphire also supplies access equipment and telehandlers for sale, servicing and transportation and provides certification training at customers' sites or its own.

"A strong detailed business plan was executed in our first year as rapid growth was necessary to maintain the loyal customer base that I've created over many years of being in the access industry. But effectively, from the financer's point of view, it was a start up business. We have grown from nothing to now competing with the larger companies and expanding our fleet to now meet the demands of our ever increasing customer base." said Mr McKinley.

Uphire's most recent purchases are two new Genie S85 telescopic booms that are MDG-15 compliant, "Our presence in the mining industry is being acknowledged and with that being said our machines need to be specified to meet the mining requirements," said Mr McKinley. "The next year ahead for Uphire is going to be just as exciting as the first year as we rollout more and more of these mining specified machines to regional areas of Australia".
