Hinowa attracts first US buyers

25 March 2008

San Francisco–based Cresco Equipment Rental is among the first North American buyers of the compact Hinowa tracked lifts now being sold in North America by Reachmaster Inc.

Cresco has ordered the larger of the two Italian–built articulated models, the 62 foot working height unit. The smaller machine has a maximum working height of 46 feet.

Ebbe Christensen, president and chief executive officer of Reachmaster, speaking to ALH at the Rental Show, said the two Hinowa models would complement the company's larger Denka and Falcon products, and would also be more affordable for rental companies.

“It's a completely different price category [from the Denka and Falcon machines],” said Christensen. “No doubt we will see a lot of interest from smaller rental companies.” The Hinowa machines will be priced at around $50,000 and $75,000.

Christensen said the lifts would be suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications, although particularly the latter. “The time for tracks is coming,” said Christensen. “We looked at the Hinowa products for more than two years – it's been a thorough investigation.”
