Finland-based Bronto Skylift has introduced a new generation control system to its flagship HLA range of truck mounted platformsused for firefighting and access-related applications.

The HLA range, which includes some of the world’s highest access platforms, has upgraded its previous third generation Bronto3+ with the 5th generation Bronto5+.

For operators this means faster levelling, easier control of working lights, light groups and cage load, bigger displays with better visibility even in sunlight, easier navigation, more chassis information available on screens, integrated help texts and quick manuals, as well as resistive touch screens. For the firefighting sector there is also an integrated fire pump screen with improved possibilities to operate the pump.

One of the important features of the Bronto5+ is the fleet management tool Skyliftfleet. The latest technology allows the units to send all operational data to the Skyliftfleet portal, where owners, operators, fleet managers and service personnel can easily check and optimise daily usage, performance and plan preventive maintenance cycles.

Bronto also points out that as the units traditionally have a long lifespan and multiple owners, it is a crucial safety factor that service history is transparent throughout its lifecycle. Skyliftfleet stores the service history in one place. In addition, important manuals and other information about each unit is stored in Skyliftfleet for easy access. The location of each unit can also be tracked in real time.

According to Bronto, the well appreciated remote service capabilities will remain the same, but through the use of the latest technology. Service personnel can log on to the unit and carry out fault findings, calibration and other tasks, as before. This is crucial when operating in a fire scene, said the company, but equally important for the industrial access sector, where high-rise HLA’s are often used on windfarms in very remote locations.
