Haulotte Group has launched a new series of rough terrain articulated booms in the 16 m working height category, AI can exclusively reveal.

The French manufacturer designed the three-model HA16 RTJ series to access the most difficult working areas. It has a maximum outreach of 8.3 m and an up-and-over clearance of 7.65 m. It also offers the industry’s quickest lifting speed to full height in 40 seconds, says the company.

The HA16 RTJ features a 4WD, two-wheel steer and 355° turret rotation; the HA16 RTJ O has a 4WD, 2-wheel steer, 355° turret rotation and oscillating axle; and the HA16 RTJ PRO features 4WD, 4-wheel steer, 360° continuous turret rotation, oscillating axle and Haulotte’s new Activ’Shield secondary guarding system, for Europe only.

The 4-wheel steer on the HA16 RTJ Pro allows three steering configurations: 4-wheel steer, 2-wheel and crab steer.

Another feature of the new series is its ability to perform simultaneous movements, including: driving + steering + turret rotation; and turret rotation + boom elevation + telescope out + Jib.

“Whatever the ground surface, the HA16 RTJ range has an excellent rough terrain capability, thanks to the best ground clearance on the market of 38cm, 40% gradeability and 4 wheel drive on all models,” said a company spokesman.

The machines also feature a permanent anti-slipping differential, while the hydraulic differential lock can be activated manually - ideal for rough terrain use. They also offer cured-on solid tires, which are longer lasting than foam filled tires and more environmentally friendly.

The new Kubota engine has a variable speed, halving the noise level and reducing the fuel consumption by 15%, said Haulotte.

The models benefit from anticorrosion treatment of the pivot pins to triple their durability; a fully protected load management system that does not come into contact with the ground and steering cylinders mounted inside the chassis.

Furthermore, the series benefits from a strong tilting cover and a hood with reinforced metal subframe and modular parts, meaning only individual parts need to be replaced rather than the whole unit. The basket is also made from modular parts for the same benefit.

There is direct access to oil and fuel filter, oil gauge, radiator water tank, alternator and battery via swing out tray. The new LCD display, integrated in the lower control box, provides a pre-diagnosis, while the manufacturer’s new diagnostic tool Haulotte Diag provides a complete and immediate diagnosis.
