Beta Max adds Pega in the US

25 March 2008

Beta Max Inc., the US company that specializes in importing European hoists, has become the distributor for Pega Hoists in the US. The deal was made public at World of Concrete where Beta Max showed a 6,000–pound capacity Pega 2740 hoist.

Dennis Mannion, Beta Max president (pictured with Beta Max's vice president for marketing, Tami Hamilton) tells ALH, “Pega needed a strong service–oriented company to sell and support its products.

Mannion, who has been importing European hoists and mast climbers for the past 20 years, including Maber and Electroelsa models, says the low speed version of the Pega hoist (150 feet per minute) would be the most appropriate model for the US market, both because of its more attractive price and because “it will serve a bigger portion of the market.” It will be most suitable for building heights between 200 and 300 feet.

The company will sell the hoists under the Pega brand in the US. Around 60 Pega hoists are already operating in North America, and recent large orders include 14 twincabin units, each with 500 feet of mast, to General Crane USA in Miami.
