Alimak lays plans for possible wind division sale
By Euan Youdale09 February 2022
Alimak has initiated a strategic review of its Wind division to explore “future strategic alternatives”, including its potential divestment.
In 2020, Alimak Group launched its New Heights programme to harness the group’s full potential and to evaluate its long-term prospects, including each of its four divisions: Construction, Industrial, Facade Access (changed from BMU in 2022) and Wind.
In 2021, the programme shifted to ensuring improved profitability, and in 2022 its focus is on executing its third; profitable growth.
“We evaluate the Group’s business portfolio on a regular basis, with a focus on profitable growth and long-term value creation,” said Ole Kristian Jødahl, CEO, Alimak Group. “The decision to initiate a strategic review of the Wind division is based on the board and group management’s view that the Wind division may have a more favourable development in another ownership structure going forward.”
Access in the wind sector
The Wind division, under the brand Avanti, was acquired in 2017. Wind is a global leader in providing access solutions for wind towers worldwide such as service lifts, ladders, service and training, with more than 40,000 service lifts having been installed globally.
The company added that its ambition is to identify market opportunities, as well as growth and value initiatives, leading to profitable growth. This has lead to the strategic review of the Wind division.
The strategic review will be conducted in 2022. However, the company added, there is no certainty that it will result in material changes.
