SanctuaryZone prevents the operator of a mobile elevating work platform from being crushed

UK-based AFI has been shortlisted for the Innovation of the Year Award in the SHP IOSH Awards for its SanctuaryZone anti-entrapment device for mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs).

SanctuaryZone comprises steel frames that project above the MEWP platform, stopping any overhead obstruction from crushing the operator. According to AFI, it is the first anti-entrapment device to be developed offering a physical barrier between an operator and an overhead obstruction and it is the only Tier 1 system that will fit most manufacturers’ machines.

AFI director Nick Selley said, “We are delighted to be shortlisted for this significant industry award. It’s a great achievement and reflects our continuing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, quality and innovation.”

The winners of the SHP IOSH awards will be announced at a ceremony on 24 October 2013 at the London Hilton.
