A-Plant’s telehandler growth plans

12 May 2016

Following substantial investment in its telehandler fleet, UK rental company A-Plant said it now had one of the largest and youngest holdings of telehandlers in the industry, with almost 1600 machines from 4m to 18m, at an average age of under two years.

A-Plant said its telehandlers had been purchased from JCB and other leading manufacturers to provide their customers with machines that meet Stage IIIB/Tier 4 emission regulations, utilise ultra-clean technology and use up to 10% less fuel than older Tier 3 units.

It said the telehandlers were also equipped with the latest in telematics technology, providing added security through tracking, machine monitoring, and automatic alerts.

A-Plant director of purchasing and Fleet Management Andrew Winlow said, “Across our entire fleet we’ve maintained a strategy of investing heavily in the latest equipment.

“Our telehandler fleet is no different and in the last twelve months, due to customer demand and exceedingly high levels of utilisation, our fleet of telehandlers has grown significantly to be almost 1600 strong. At a cost of over £60 million (€76 million), it makes us the go to hire company for telehandler hire."

And Mr Winlow said the company planned further growth in the future.

“We have got even more investment planned in the coming months. Orders will be placed to increase the fleet size further, plus our reach is increasing with 20m telehandlers being added to the range,” he said.
