Italy-based manufacturer Comet is to expand its range of spider lifts, with the launch of two new models later this year.

Known for its truck mount and van mounted ranges, Comet’s new articulated models are part of a plan to expand its Leopard tracked platform product line.

While no specific details about the new machines have yet been released, they are expected to offer greater working heights and will likely incorporate the same key features as the company’s existing Leopard spider lifts.

The current Leopard product line comprises four tracked models with working heights of 14, 18, 21 and 25m.

While the manufacturer’s 18, 21 and 25m spider lifts have a basket load capacity of 250kg, an extendable undercarriage, and a turret rotation of 400 degrees, the smaller 14m Leopard is designed to work in confined spaces and weighs less than 1500kg for easy transport on a standard 3.5-tonne commercial vehicle.

Available in petrol, diesel and battery-powered versions, all the machines in the range are available with a number of optional extras, and include radio control and wi-fi capabilities for remote control, as standard.

It is expected that Comet’s two upcoming spider lift models will be produced at its tracked platform manufacturing facility near Modena in north-east Italy, which opened last year.
